What are Keywords and why they are so important for better search engine optimization and placement…?

”Keywords” in SEO terminology represent all of the words that are inputs as search query into the Search Engine.

Let’s have a look at the Keyword ”webbhotel” which is Swedish word and have a meaning analogue to the ”web hosting” in English.

When you type that Keyword into the input box in, let’s say ”Google” search engine, Google will offer to you list of sites that contain that word: ”webbhotell”

It is important to notice that in different search engines the same keyword produces different results.

Even in the same search engine, one keyword can give different results during the same period of time…

That is because Internet is very dynamic place. Every day there are lots of new Websites, while some other disappear like they never existed on the Internet… Some sites which were not popular become suddenly very popular, the other ones become forgotten etc.

There are various tools used by SEO professionals for research of the Keywords that are most appropriate for some specific Website. Some of those tools are free, some of them are not. Some are more, some less expensive, but all in all, the entire collection of various tools can cost you a lot, so be careful in selecting (and paying for) these tools. And there’s not only one, and the best one.

One of the examples for optimizing the website for search engines for usage of proper keywords is creating Website Design. Let’s imagine for a moment that you want to sell your own services for Website Design. And of course you want also to offer some free stuff as well.

So, let’s see with which keywords a website can be found…

Open a Google and type ”free”: Click here — > free
And? You have listing of more than 1,050,000,000 websites that are mentioning keyword ”free” . Not only Internet based free stuff, but free stuff of all kinds. Pretty crowded, isn’t it?

Now, let’s try to be more specific:
In same Search Engine, type ”free html”: Click here —> free html

And, finally, as ”free html” is still too broad, and as experienced Web Designer knows, the final quest is for template with which you can create your html pages. So, let’s give it a try, type:
”free html template”: Click here –> free html template

And Voila! Here we are! At the top position Winstart.com is listed!

This was a short example how selection of right keywords can bring your website to the top of Search Engine Results Pages (SERP). Of course it is not easily to select the right keywords, with least ”competition” and yet meaningful, and that they describe the right purpose and contents of your website.

With those carefully selected keywords, you have to submit and optimize your site for better search engine placement at the SE (Search Engines) but, that is another story…
